These are the questions manufacturers ask us during a real evaluation — from the first compatibility check to the first purchase order.

Compatibility and load

What load type is supported and what is the maximum power?

The GPO iotHub TPCB control board switches resistive heating loads at 230 V AC up to 3 kW. That covers the typical range of household and commercial electric panel heaters, convectors and towel rails.

Relay or triac? Is there an audible click?

Switching is done by a triac, not a relay. There is no click when the heater turns on or off and no mechanical contact to wear out over years of daily cycling — important for bedrooms and hotel rooms.

Which heater types can the board control?

Convectors, panel heaters, towel rails and similar resistive heaters. The board supports the existing interfaces and configurations of electric heaters, so it integrates into current product designs rather than requiring a new one.

Does the board work on 110–120 V networks?

The board is designed for 230 V AC networks, which covers the EU and UK markets. If you ship to markets with a different mains voltage, contact us to discuss options before planning the integration.

Sensors and accuracy

How many temperature sensors are supported and which?

The board has inputs for two temperature sensors: one for room (air) temperature and one for the heater surface. Both readings are visible in the app and are used by the control logic.

What are the measurement accuracy and hysteresis?

The exact accuracy and hysteresis figures are being added to the public specification table. Until then, request them through the documentation form — our engineers answer with the values for your sensor configuration.

Does it detect an open window?

Yes. The board detects the sharp temperature drop caused by an open window and reacts to avoid heating the street. The user gets a notification about the extreme temperature change.

Safety and overheating

How is overheating protection implemented?

The dedicated surface sensor input lets the board monitor the heater surface temperature directly and keep it within limits, independently of the room reading. The board also monitors the mains and detects power surges.

Can it be used in bathrooms and towel rails?

Yes — towel rails and drying applications are among the products built on the board, and GPO heaters carrying it are certified IP43, protection Class I (per EU DoC № 20230515). The rating of your own product is determined by your enclosure and confirmed on the final device.

What happens during a power surge?

The board monitors the network status and detects power surges, collecting the events in statistics. Error statuses are visible to the manufacturer on the vendor dashboard, which helps separate device issues from grid issues in warranty cases.

Certification

Do I need additional certification after integrating the board?

Yes — the final device (your heater with the board) needs its own conformity assessment and Declaration of Conformity. GPO issues an Authorisation Letter allowing you to reference our certificates and test reports, which typically removes the need to re-test the electronics.

Which certificates does the board have?

As part of the GPO S 100 heater: LVD certificate 2304604711E/L23/48030 and EMC certificate 2304604711E/E23/48029 (both TÜV NORD Baltik, 11.05.2023), EMC test report LEITC-TR-23-048, LVD test report 2304604711E/45027/TR/23, and EU Declaration of Conformity № 20230515.

How is the radio part (RED) covered?

The board uses the pre-certified Espressif ESP32-SOLO-1 module (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz + BLE) with RED test report B2006197. Using a pre-certified module keeps the radio section of your compliance file simple.

Is the board RoHS compliant?

Yes. Compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU as amended by (EU) 2015/863 is demonstrated through the EN IEC 63000 documentation route.

What will my notified body receive?

A complete package: the EU Declaration of Conformity, LVD and EMC certificates with their test reports, the RED report for the radio module, the RoHS documentation and the Authorisation Letter that permits your company to reference all of it.

Mounting and housing

What are the board dimensions and what does the mounting need?

The board is 120 × 40 mm with a 1.6 mm PCB, assembled height up to 29 mm, and mounts on M3 points. Most panel and convector bodies accommodate it without enclosure redesign.

Do I need to redesign my enclosure?

Usually not. You need the 120 × 40 mm footprint, up to 29 mm of height and a display cut-out; a reference drawing for the cut-out is available in Downloads. We review your enclosure drawings during the sample stage.

Where is the antenna and does it need routing?

The BLE/Wi-Fi antenna is on the board itself — there is no external antenna to route through the enclosure, which keeps assembly simple and the radio part of certification predictable.

App and cloud

Does control work without the Internet?

Yes, three ways: full manual control on the device, Bluetooth control from the app when the user is nearby, and on-board schedules that keep running because they are stored on the board itself — including through connection outages.

Is there Alexa or Google Home integration?

No — voice assistant integration is not currently available. Control is via the GPO Home app for iOS and Android, the web interface, Bluetooth when offline, and manual controls on the heater.

Where are the servers and who owns them?

The platform runs on GPO’s own server infrastructure in the EU. Your product does not depend on a third-party IoT platform’s pricing or policies, and device data stays under the manufacturer’s control.

Who controls firmware updates?

You do. Firmware updates are delivered over the air (OTA), and the manufacturer controls the rollout to their devices from the vendor dashboard — nothing is pushed to your customers without your decision.

What does the end user see?

The GPO Home app (iOS and Android) and a web page — or, with the white-label option, your own branded app and web interface. Features include schedules, group control, statistics and access sharing.

Customization

Can I have my own logo and my own app?

Yes. The white-label option includes a mobile app in your design under your name in the stores, a branded web page for your end users, and your logo — including on the display boot screen.

Can the display show my market’s language?

The on-board menu ships in seven languages: English, Ukrainian, Polish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian; the mobile app is localized separately. If your market needs another display language, ask us — it is a firmware-level change.

Can I get the data into my CRM or 1C?

Yes. Usage and sales statistics from the vendor dashboard can be exported into your own CRM or 1C system, so your sales and service teams keep working in their usual tools.

Commerce and logistics

How do I get a test sample?

Request it through the sample form — it is free for manufacturers evaluating the integration. We ship from Tallinn, Estonia, and walk your engineers through the first connection.

What are the MOQ and lead times?

Both depend on your annual volume and configuration, so we quote them per project. Send the partner form with your expected volumes and we will come back with concrete numbers.

What warranty do the boards carry?

Five years. The measured defect rate is 0.8%, every board is tested after production, and a board that fails for any reason other than incorrect installation is replaced free of charge.

Support

What support does a manufacturer get?

Technical support 24/7, direct access to the GPO engineers who designed the board and firmware, a support chat you can staff with your own responsible person, and at least 60 days’ notice before any component change in the design.

How long does the integration take?

The procedure is five steps: purchase, serial registration, installation, connection, verification. After the pilot batch it becomes a standard line operation; we support the first production run and share process documentation from existing partners.
